VA SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE

Since the signing of the Presidential Order that mandates SDVOSB contracting, PBI has become a preferred source for construction, design-build, renovation and repair services at multiple VA medical centers in four states.   PBI has an ongoing indefinite delivery/indefinite quality (IDIQ) contract for construction and renovation tasks of the VAMC Mountain Home, Tennessee.  PBI has worked successfully at the following VA facilities:

  • Atlanta VA Medical Center, Decatur, Georgia
  • Charleston Vet Center, Charleston, South Carolina
  • VAMC Mountain Home, Tennessee
  • Charles George VA Medical Center, Asheville, North Carolina.

Contracts at these locations have been procured through both VA contracting facilities and the United States USACE and have been awarded through negotiated RFPs, competitive bids and competed RFPs.   In the process of performing its contractual obligations, PBI has developed an expertise for understanding VA contracting and construction processes and protocols and the regimen of working within medical facility operational frameworks.  These considerations include:

  • Mission priority of serving the Veteran
  • Coordinating work to minimize disturbance to patient-occupied areas
  • Confidentiality of patient and hospital data and information
  • Requirements for off-hours performance in areas where mission activities are uninterruptable
  • Infection control regimen and requirements including permits for wall perforations
  • VA safety and health rules, and
  • Criticality of meeting schedules and milestones

PBI’s resume with the VA has grown to include a variety of work scopes that are representative of the facility upgrades being developed and implemented at VA medical centers across the United States.  These scopes include:

  • Design-build installations and renovations
  • Exterior stabilizations, renovations and upgrades
  • Interior facility repairs and renovations, and
  • Complete facility renovation and rehabilitation

Selected examples of these scopes performed at the VA medical centers cited above and that represent PBI’s resume and capability follow.
